We chose Orchard Grove Residences for my mother because it looked very nice and comfortable, and everybody seemed very friendly. She has done exercise classes, and they have a TV area where the residents sit around if they don't want to stay in their room. She has a small apartment, but it's big enough that she can have some of her own furniture in there besides what was already in there. They provide a bed, a dresser, a wardrobe for her clothing, a rocking chair, a little table, and a TV. It's a really nice apartment, and the bathroom is quite large.

I visited this facility We went to The Residence at Orchard Grove. She liked the facilities, she liked the people, and she liked the rooms. We went to a studio that was available at the time, and she liked it. The staff who toured us was very cordial and very happy with everybody. We did not have the time to try their food, but we were invited to come back and have lunch with Melissa.

Her room has a huge window and a bathroom twice as big as the one I have at home! It was the first community I have ever visited in this area that was set up in this way, I believe they call it "small house" but truly it is set up like a nice new home with room mates. So much more comfortable than an apartment style building in my opinion. The staff was very accommodating in welcoming us to dinner even though we just dropped in on them.

We went with The Residence at Orchard Grove because they were willing to waive the up front fee for us. The communication with the director up top the point that mu uncle actually went into the facility was wonderful. Once he was here there were a few issues that did arise and the communication was poor and I was disappointed with that. They had plenty of great activities provided for the residents but he did not participate. I would definitely recommend them to others looking, overall the quality of care is top notch in my opinion.
And every week they either went to Walmart or the next week they would go to Wegmans. I took her to one of those big swings, and they could sit out there on the swing and have a cover over it if the sun was too warm. Sometimes in the summer, they would have their lunch out there if they wanted. They had a grill out there where they would grill hotdogs and hamburgers for them.
The people are very caring and ensure my mom integrates with the traditional assisted living as well as with residence living in the memory care. The socialization has actually helped her memory quite a bit. The activities staff groups the outings in a way that they are with different people which I think is great. The food is excellent and I enjoy joining my mom on Friday’s for appetizers and a glass of wine during their Happy Hour. The facility is beautiful and her apartment is a good size.
